But she was taking a leap of faith in hopes it would work out this time. With his own path to walk, Aaron wasn’t looking to settle down. In March 2023, they matched on BLK. Here is their story.
Different Places
Arian: I used to think I was looking for a soulmate, but after my last two relationships didn’t work out my hopes were not high. But I knew I prioritized a partner who was God-fearing, sweet, and treated me like a queen. I wanted someone I saw as a leader that I would like to follow.
Aaron: I was looking for an untitled relationship—something that was not serious, something temporary. I prioritized casual flings and people who were on their own walk of life while I walked mine, someone who didn’t desire a lot of my time.
The Match
Arian: I saw that Aaron lived in Dayton, Ohio, which isn’t too far from Cincinnati, so if we matched, distance wouldn’t be an issue for me. He had a lot of professional pictures on [his profile] and I instantly fell for his smile. It was very charming. He looked like a respectful man who had his head on right. Initially, I didn’t think he was going to match me, but I was ecstatic when he did.
Aaron: [The first thing I noticed was] Arian’s smile and her eyes. I was intrigued by the fact that she’s an aspiring actress and model since I’m also an actor.
Arian: I was nervous talking to him because I felt like he almost got away. We moved our conversation [from the app to] over to the phone and within a few days, we started to really like each other. We planned our first date for the following week.
The First Date
Aaron: I showed up to the house and it was sparks from the beginning. [She] made me feel like I could be my true genuine self. The chemistry was unique. I didn’t want it to end.
Arian: We hit it off perfectly. I had butterflies from the moment he stepped inside my door to pick me up. We ate at a place called The Lounge in Cincinnati. I offered to pay for our movie afterward, since he paid for dinner. [That] caught him off guard, but it impressed him. He told me he wasn’t waiting until he dropped me off, so as the movie started we had our first kiss. I was so nervous I felt like he could probably hear my heart beating through my lips. Neither of us was ready for the night to end when he dropped me off at home, but I barely knew him so I didn’t go back to his place. We both felt that chemistry, though. So we scheduled another date for later that week.
Making It Official
Arian: A month later, on April 17th, he asked me to be his girlfriend after introducing me to his parents. We’ve been together ever since. He and I now live together and have a puppy together. We had a romantic one year anniversary: we went to dinner and he got me flowers. He made me feel butterflies for him all over again.
Both: Now, we are incorporating God into our relationship more and making sure we keep him in the center to keep it solid. We want to thank BLK for matching us, because we saved each other from going down the wrong paths. We have changed for each other in a positive way and we have grown to be better individuals.
